Developer tool comparisons, weighted.

Every other comparison site hands you a static feature matrix and leaves the ranking to you. toolweight lets you say what matters — cold start, egress price, .au support, exit cost — and re-ranks the table on the spot. The answer is different for every team, so the page shouldn’t pretend otherwise.

Weight is the whole idea

Every comparison field carries a direction — higher is better, or lower is — and a default weight from 0 to 10. Scores are a weighted mean over the fields that actually have a value, so a tool is never punished for a fact nobody has published; it only loses where it genuinely loses.

Each category ships preset profiles — “cheapest at volume”, “most agent-friendly”, “best from Australia” — and the weights travel in the URL, so a ranking tuned to your priorities is a link you can paste into a Slack thread and argue about.

A preset is just a set of weights. Change them and the table re-sorts — no account, no saved state, just the URL.

Why trust it

  • No money changes hands

No affiliate links, no sponsored placements, no paid inclusion, no “featured partner” row. Nobody can buy a position here because nothing is for sale.

  • Every value carries provenance

668 of 4,288 published cells carry a source URL and a verification date; all of them carry a confidence level, including the ones that say we do not know.

  • Staleness is published, not hidden

Each category declares a verification cadence and the sources page lists every cell that has slipped past it. Out-of-date data is a fact about this site, so it is on this site.

  • The dataset is yours

Published CC BY 4.0, with a JSON API, llms.txt and an MCP server. Take it, argue with it, correct it.
